Environment data on Regional Snapshot includes information about water quality, pollution, land use, waste and recycling in different areas of the United Kingdom.

Digest of Environmental Statistics is an online publication which is continually being updated to provide summary statistics on the environment in the United Kingdom. Statistics are presented on a number of topics including air and water quality, land use, pollution in the form of Key Facts summarising information and providing links to pages with detailed information, the data and to other web sites.


Environment in your pocket is a distillation of the above data in an easy format.  Latest version was released in November 2007.

Sustainability Indicators for the UK are a group of 68 indicators covering a wide range of topics developed to support the UK Government Sustainable Development Strategy.


A range of Physical Environment indicators are available on the Neighbourhood Statistics website (NeSS).

A draft Marine Bill was published in April 2008 for consultation, one section covers access to coastal land which could have considerable impact for the South East.

Rural affairs is currently of high importance and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) champions the equitable treatment of rural areas and communities in national, regional and local public policies and programmes. Many data are presented with Urban and Rural dimension identified. 

The Rural South East: An evidence base is a report which provides important data on topics such as demographics, economics, exclusion, agriculture, biodiversity and landscape.  Each one is analysed in a rural context, presenting a greater understanding of the rural South East.  In addition, the report focuses in on each county within the region, providing an overview of the key issues in each.
