Labour Market Statistics: South East - January 2008
The latest monthly release from the Office for National Statistics includes the three-month average Labour Force Survey results for September to November 2007, claimant count data for December 2007, and civilian workforce jobs data for September 2007. This is the last monthly release before the Office for National Statistics produce a new quarterly regional update.
Labour Force Survey data for the South East indicate that the trend in the employment rate may be starting to increase, but the rate in the latest period is not significantly different from a year ago. The trend in the unemployment rate may be starting to increase, but the latest rate is not significantly different from a year ago.
Data for the three months to November 2007 show the seasonally adjusted employment rate at 78.7 per cent, up 0.1 percentage point on a year earlier. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.7 per cent, up 0.3 percentage points on a year earlier.
The seasonally adjusted claimant count was down in the year to December 2007.
