Jobseeker's Allowance Claimants by Ethnicity, 2007/08

Jobseeker's Allowance is a benefit paid to people who are unemployed but actively seeking work. Claimants are asked to describe their ethnicity according to one of five broad categories. These datasets detail this information to local authority level.

The ethnicity of Claimants has been recorded since the New Deal scheme was introduced in 1998. Referencing Claimant count data in this way provides valuable insight into how economic deprivation affects different groups in society.

These datasets are provided by the Office for National Statistics. They cover Great Britain and are classed as National Statistics.
