Resident Population Estimates, Mid-2008

This release comprises latest data for mid-year resident population in 2008, broken down by all people, males and females. These are available for local authorities across the United Kingdom. The mid-2008 data for local authorities are classified as being National Statistics.

Later (planned for October 2009), mid-2008 data for Middle Layer Super Output Areas (MSOAs) will be added to these datasets for areas within England and Wales, and these data will be classified as Experimental Statistics. This will make the data consistent with previous years (mid-2001 to mid-2007) which already include data for Local Authorities and MSOAs.
